instead of listening to miserable men on howard101 (i have standards. who knew?), i spent any non-robin’s news time on a recent roadtrip with just me & sirius listening to all of the awesome old school country stations. just me, merle, waylon and the mountains.

if i had my way

in my annual summer obsession with 1991-era deadhead style (i call it the kyle ripka after a boy from high school who really mastered the look), i found this great set of photos on flickr that included some pictures of one of the last shows they played at soldier field. later in the day I looked for a youtube of samson & delilah just to listen and BOOM!

the first video that popped up is from the same show that the dude’s photos are from (i think). that’s probably not all that WHOA-worthy, but I whoa-d anyway.

the curtain's a sea anemone

one of my favorite places in san diego is the tide pools at cabrillo national park. so beautiful and fun. visiting always entails poking a million sea anemone with bits of sea weed, and this song inevitably runs through my head on repeat. the song itself is just awful and reminds me of sad boyfriends and long mixtapes, but is still somehow so good.
